He disappointed me ... ( 5 months ago by eggory)
He disappointed me for a moment but i see he does have a point. He makes a pretty strong claim to a defensive position. I don't know really, but i think it really is defense.
But still there's the problem of telling the exceptional religious people, who're fairly humble with their application of their ideology and respectful to atheistic and secular values, that it's ok that they're religious; and then too carelessly insulting their religion on the other hand whenever bothered by others.

Agreed- when religions stop imposing their views on everyone else and keep their beliefs among themselves, religion becomes as benign as astrology. If that were true, there would be no need for atheist activism!

I think Atheists are some of the most brutally honest and courageous people there are; they accept the hardest truths of reality. How can anybody call it a belief! No afterlife, no divine purpose, no miracles - why did I buy into this crap religion - Jesus, forgive me! lol

Why did Professor Dawkins say "In OUR own Christian Society". I thought he was atheist/agnostic?

That would be anti-democratic you cannot exclude certain groups of people from politics process just because you disagree with them. By doing that you make the exact same mistake that you accuse "Christians and Muslims" of, about half of the world's population btw who you just conveniently put together into one single group of people like they were all the same...
Is that your idea of democracy?

The Bible is a ... ( 3 months ago by silvercade)
The Bible is a compilation of the most popular stories/myths of the time(s) it was written in an attempt to create the most widely accepted religion. This was done obviously to be the most popular culture/kingdom/ruler of all. Majority rule is strength in numbers. It's all very basic logic that is tried tested and true.
I don't know about ... ( 3 months ago by egdeltur666)
I don't know about that. Atheism isn't about god, it's the belief that you absolutely have to have a group to fit in with that ends with "ism." It's the same bullshit with anarchy having a symbol. Maybe Atheism isn't considered a "religion" per se, but it sure is trying awfully hard to fit in.
Its much, much, MUCH easier to just say that you aren't delusional and don't subscribe to religious superstition. When somebody asks me my religion, I don't say atheism, I say fuck you.

I like Liz, she's kept her mouth shut and done her job. At the same time, I must say, I think it's time we finished with the royal family. It's a pretty silly and well outdated thing. I'm meeting more Brit's that think like me on this issue.

Hmmm Interesting. My grandfather said; "one day a wise white man would come and say that there is no God(s) and that we are all animals". The irony is we have been telling the same story to the world for 2500 years and now only they are come to realise it.
